A big part of marketing your niche and affiliate products will consist of keyword research. Compelling content in your documents is a must but without the proper use of keywords and key phrases it's going to be difficult for anyone to find your information.Not to go into into much detail but you also must consider keyword density when creating your web documents. The recent Google Panda and Penguin have really hit some website hard by the use of too many keywords in their pages. Most keyword research guides will advise no more that 2 -4% use of keywords when creating content for your web pages, article, and blogs.
Google Adwords Tool Keyword Research Guide.
There are many keyword research tools online but the Google Adword Keyword tool is likely the most popular, and it's free. There are a variety of things you can do to customize the tool to get various results.

What do the results mean?
- Keyword Ideas. Generated list of key words and phrases.
- Competition. This Does Not refer to the number of people using that key word or phrase but the competition of people bidding on that word or phrase for their adwords campaigns
- Global Monthly Searches. 12 month average of searches world wide.
- Local Monthly Searches. 12 month average of searches in your country. US, Australia, etc.
- Approximate CPC. Cost Per Click if running an adwords campaign.
Vary your results.
Other options to generate different results.You can find "match types" in the left column of the adwords keyword research tool. Check and clear the different options to find other keywords and phrases associated with your search. Options are:
- Broad. Results show keyword ideas for different grammatical forms, related words, and synonyms.
- Exact. Shows more targeted search terms.
- Phrase. Shows keywords used in phrase examples
- Keyword ideas tab. Shows different keywords and phrases depending on "match types."
- Ad group ideas. Arranges keyword phrases in different groups with a variety of search term ideas.
Other search function operators.
Another way to judge your keyword choice is to do a physical search in Google using operators. This will give ideas on the number of pages that have a certain term in different sections of a webpage. As example use "intext:keyword research guide" will show pages using the keyword term "keyword research guide" anywhere in the text of those pages. There are more but here are the ones most helpful to me.- intitle: Shows results of keywords used in the title of your document. Example: "intitle:keyword research guide"
- intext: Will show you chosen keywords used in the text of the document. Example "intext:keyword research guide"
- inanchor: Shows results of keywords used as anchor text in documents. Example "inanchor:keyword research guide"
- inurl: Will show keywords used in the url of a page. Example "inurl:keyword research guide"
In conclusion.
Just remember when using the Google Adwords Tool as a keyword research guide, the results are going to favor Google and not necessarily the best keywords and phrases to use in all cases. I use the adword tool in conjunction with the keyword research tool found in Jaaxy and the Wealthy Affiliate keyword tool.
